"Botanical Series" in bloom

Lily Pond
We are well into the rainy season here in Penang, and while it makes for some gray days and soaking walks, the downpours do refresh the plants and add that extra sparkle of green to the jungle hills.

The rain keeps us inside most days, but instead of letting all the gray get me down, I fight the gloominess with a paintbrush of colors in my "Botanical Series" of images from the Penang Botanic Gardens.
Cannonball Tree Flowers
Rising up throughout the Gardens, the Cannonball Trees have twisting branches that jut out from the trunk with cannonball-shaped fruits attached.  While the unique, but pale brown fruits give the tree its name, the pretty scarlet flowers is what attracted my attention.  Certainly one of my favorites at the Gardens.

Be sure to visit the Penang Botanic Gardens this weekend for the last two days of the Floral Festival.  Just don't forget to bring your umbrella!

Those are wonderful paintings of flowers and then to see all the green trees in the Botanical gardens makes me really long for summer even though I like a white Christmas.
