Thank you Kuen! I started Capturing Penang as just a recording of my journey home, but am thrilled that people like you are finding it and learning more about Penang through my stories and pictures. I do hold my tongue sometimes on many of the issues Penang faces now, but you are right that it needs to be promoted differently. Penang is a special place, and for anyone staying here long enough will realize, a place like no other. I hope it stays that way, and doesn't become just another tourist stop in Asia.

I liked the piece on the stairways too. Amazing how natural lights from the shophouse help to create such stirring mood to the exhibits. The atmosphere is also different when we visit at the different time.

Hi Reese, I have stumbled onto your website via your response (youtube link) to Anilnetto.com as I was searching for 'best-Penang'. It would definitely had visited the exhibition, 'Rehab, my foot', if I had known about it when I was in Penang last month. I can understand the wariness of most Penangnites to visit the shophouse but, I think a different way of promoting Penang and its wonders is much needed. Capturing Penang is a good place to start for people who are genuinely interested in the place that they are visiting and, their sense of wonder may just be ignited by informative writing and the accompanying beautiful photographs. I sense a sharing tone in your writing, not just 'telling' me where I should go or what I should be eating. I have enjoyed the bits that I have read, will revisit the page often and, I sincerely hope that your news of Penang will reach 'the world'. I will share my discovery of capturing Penang. Best wishes.

These fascinating pieces of art become so much more in the whole environment that Chee set them in.
I especially like the piece portraying the individual walking up the stairs. The use of lighting on it is superb.
It's a shame that the locals are suspicious and not more open to experiencing the message he is trying to convey.
I like Chee's attitude and I hope he is correct, "But like this shophouse that will begin restoration next month, Chee is optimistic that there can be rehabilitation of thought and action to combat our corrupt society."
