Chuckled a bunch while reading thefirst paragraph. I love the humour of SE Chinese vesus the gwailos. And... so true.
BTW, I love Penang. Even thinking of moving there in a few years from now.

What great pictures. The history lesson is fascinating. In the US, we tend to take the origin and care of spices for granted.

Now..., as far as Mark attempting to abduct your nutmeg... men do that far and wide. When I catch my boyfriend eying (he knows better than to ask) my wine glass or a piece of artichoke or steak on my plate, I assume the defensive huddle, pull all close to me and don't leave for the restroom until I've had my fill.
